HONOLULU Fashion Week Announces Final Event Lineup

HONOLULU Fashion Week, a first-of-its-kind fashion event highlighting local and national design talent will hit Honolulu next month. Presented by HONOLULU Magazine, the weekend of events from November 6 – 9 announces the final designer lineup along with supporting sponsors. More than 30 designers and a diverse group of New York-based industry experts will come together for this premier event to showcase Hawaii’s unique fashion talents.

“Fashion has been a part of the Hawaiian culture for years. Our rich heritage has influenced not only the designers that reside in the islands but also those designs seen on international runways this past spring,” explains Alyson Helwagen, HONOLULU Magazine publisher. “We couldn’t be happier to champion our influence on the industry with this event that would not be possible without our many partners and sponsors, who are helping to catapult Hawaii’s own fashion industry into an international spotlight.”

H&M to open first Hawaii store

H & M, Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M), will open its first location in the state of Hawaii on March 27 at noon. The flagship store, located in the Waikiki Business Plaza, will feature 31,000 square feet of fashion!

“We are truly excited to open our first location in the islands at this iconic shopping location in Waikiki,” said Daniel Kulle, U.S. President for H&M. “People from across the globe travel to Hawaii to experience its very special culture and an environment that is unlike any other in the US or in the world. Our new flagship location will be a great addition to the luxury retail mix on Kalakaua Avenue, giving residents and tourists alike great choices in fashion with great value.”

Opening new stores across the country allows H&M to support local economies where they operate stores. 160 local employees have been hired for the new location, including 20 people that will return from the mainland home to Hawaii.
