Outrigger Sets Sail to Become World’s Premier Beachfront Resort Brand

Outrigger founders Roy and Estelle Kelley opened their first hotel in the Hawaii resort destination of Waikiki in September 1947. Today, as Outrigger Enterprises Group celebrates its Founders Day, the company is excited to announce the launch of a dedicated beachfront resort brand – Outrigger Resorts, which includes its existing world-class properties in Hawaii, Australia, Fiji, Guam, Thailand, Mauritius, and now the Maldives, as well as future resorts planned for China, Vietnam and elsewhere across Asia-Pacific and the Indian Ocean. Outrigger currently operates 15 full service resorts in seven countries with plans to open two to four additional Outrigger Resorts annually over the next decade.

Students and workshop participants will also receive 20 percent off any block-print product (blankets, pillows, curtains clothing, etc.). They go well with the style of the boards workshop attendees will be making!

All materials will be provided for this D.I.Y. bulletin board workshop ($20). It’s back to school time and every student needs a bulletin board to hang up their schedule, calendars, pictures, etc. so this workshop will not only provide D.I.Y. guidance, but some upholstery 101 for anyone interested in revamping items already in their home.

This fall, Windward Mall will put the “fun” in fundraising for the mall’s 10th Annual Festival of Giving event, Saturday, November 8 through Monday, November 10, 2014. And now through October 13, the mall is inviting nonprofits to sign up to participate!

Safeway Donates Over 16 Tons Of Ice To Aid Big Island Residents Impacted By Tropical Storm Iselle

HONOLULU – Safeway is sending over 16 tons of ice – 32,400 pounds to the Puna District of the Big Island to help residents who are still without electricity following Tropical Storm Iselle. The ice will be distributed through the American Red Cross aid station at the Pahoa Community Center on Thursday. The ice is expected to be available by 2 p.m.

Safeway is shipping two containers of ice from Oahu to Hilo to help meet the demand. Earlier this week, the company also trucked a container of ice from its store in Kailua-Kona to its store in Hilo.

“Many of our neighbors in the Puna area have been hit hard by Iselle and are still in need of basic supplies,” said George Glukfeld, Safeway Hawaii district manager. “This is the time for our entire community to pull together and do what we can to help in the relief effort.”

On Saturday, Aug 16, Pearlridge Center will be giving away one sheet of the new U.S. Postal Service Farmers’ Market stamps worth $9.80 to the first 250 customers at the Pearlridge Farmers’ Market. To receive a sheet, a customer must shop at five different market vendors and complete a birthday passport, which will be available at the RevoluSun tent.

Waikiki Aquarium’s Distinguished Lecture Series. The Aquarium will continue its Distinguished Lecture Series with internationally recognized University of Hawai’i Professor and Director of the Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research and Education (C-MORE), Dr. David Karl. Dr. Karl will address “The Contemporary Challenge of the Sea: Science, Society and Sustainability” and aid in the discussion surrounding this major conservation issue.
