Hale Kipa is opening a dog daycare in Kaneohe unlike any other in Hawaii that specializes in supervised, off-leash dog playtime while providing job skills for at-risk youth. It is one of the only dog daycare facilities of its kind in the U.S.

Hale Kipa spent the past two months renovating the location at 46-178 Kahuhipa Street (directly across from Windward Dodge in Space P) to provide a safe, specially designed area for dogs to play. The facility features toys, treats, comfy lounge furniture and a large active space that is well supervised by trained staff and a certified dog trainer. Hale Kipa has hired and trained staff for the daycare, which can accommodate up to 25 dogs at a time. The daily rate includes supervised off-leash play, basic training to reinforce good dog manners, and periodic bathing.

Every shivering dog can now enjoy a warm bath

HONOLULU — Bonterra Solar has donated a solar hot water heating system to the Hawaiian Humane Society. The system will provide hot water to make possible warm baths for dogs and to run the society’s pet laundry center and the dishwashers that clean dozens of pet bowls every day.

“We are proud to give back to the Hawaiian Humane Society, a place that provides 24/7 care to animals in need,” said Andrew Yani, Bonterra co-founder and principal.
