WHAT: 

The University of Hawaii Student Organic Farm Training (SOFT) program and the Tropical Plant and Soil Science Graduate Student Organization present an educational lecture series highlighting sustainable agriculture. In a diverse and changing world, the topic of sustainable agriculture brings necessary conversation and therefore changes, that are required in order to ensure a safe and healthy future for the next generation.

Sephora at Ala Moana Shopping Center has chosen to help HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support) through Sephora Americas Values Inside Out partnership program that matches Sephora stores with non-profit organizations in their own communities.

The public is invited to learn more about HUGS and how they can help support its mission to Hawaii's seriously ill children and their families at Sephora at Ala Moana's HUGS event on Thursday, April 11 from 11am to 2pm. HUGS helps Hawaii's seriously ill children and their families preserve their quality of life through free programs addressing emotional, social, physical and financial needs. For a minimum $10 donation, people will receive a HUGS t-shirt while supplies last.

McDonald's Restaurants of Hawaii Donates Over $30,000 to FIRST In Hawaii Robotics Competition

McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawaii presented a check today for $31,965 to the participating robotics teams at this year’s FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) in Hawaii Regional Robotics Competition. The donation, raised from a statewide robotics fundraiser, will be divided evenly among the 30 competing Hawaii robotics teams, providing $1,065.50 to each team.

“On behalf of all of the robotics teams in this year’s FIRST in Hawaii Regional Robotics Competition, we would like to thank McDonald’s for its support of Hawaii robotics,” said Corrie Heck, executive director, Friends of Hawaii Robotics. “McDonald’s partnership with Hawaii robotics directly contributes to the growth of our next generation of young leaders.”
